Few things can compete with the feeling of freedom you get from a long motorcycle ride, but that feeling of freedom must be embraced with responsibility and caution. Motorcycle drivers are at much higher risk for minor and fatal injuries when they drive than people riding in a car. Consequently, motorcycle owners should protect themselves, their passengers, and their bikes with the best motorcycle insurance available. Different types of motorcycle insurance will cover different items at risk.
-
Liability Coverage - This is the most commonly mandatory
coverage for motorists. It helps pay for property and bodily injuries
inflicted on others if you are at fault in an accident.
-
Medical Payments - Although medical payment insurance is
usually an optional coverage plan, the high-risk nature of motorist
driving, makes it a valuable asset to have. This protection helps cover
the cost of physical damages incurred in motorcycle accident.
-
Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist - This protection will pay
for damages caused by another driver who is unable to pay for the
damages they caused because he or she carries little or no insurance.
-
Collision - This coverage is put in place to pay for repairs
on your bike or replacement if the damage is extensive from collisions
where you were at fault.
-
Comprehensive - This policy pays for damages incurred in ways
other ways than a collision such as fire, falling objects, theft,
vandalism and other natural disasters.
-
Add-ons - If you have custom equipment enhancing your
motorcycle and you wish to insure that specialized equipment, or you
wish to have towing cost covered advance in the event that your
motorcycle breaks down, there are additional coverage add-ons that will
make these options available.
Of all the types of insurance that a state may
require, bodily injury and property damage coverage are the two most
common. Some states may also require motorists to carry uninsured /
underinsured motorist coverage policies, but medical payment policies
are almost always optional. Depending on the bike model you own, the
experience you have acquired, and the number of bikes you own, our
agents may even be able to help you secure discounts on your motorcycle
insurance.
